Buy Cafergot Without Prescription, There seems to be a brief respite in Ed’s furious comic “stripping” so I thought this might be a prime opportunity to update y’all on the progress of our Organical Recording Diary.   You probably didn’t realize when you started reading what you were in for but hopefully you are finding the process interesting, educational, informative or at least you like how it fills the space between Ed’s comics.

Since we last spoke the band took a bit of a breather after our frantic month of guitar takes and had John finishing off drum parts.   That’s done more or less.   There is one song that he has left to do, JvsM which needs some treatment before John can tackle it, I’m sure there will be some other percussion elements and maybe some backing vocals and other miscellany.

Once we got back we brought the Baldwin amp that Ed and myself found last year up to the kitchen.  The Baldwin was bought by us primarily because it looked cool and was being neglected at our favourite music store Encore Music.   We felt sorry for it and plugged it in and were shocked to hear gorgeous tones emanating from it’s equally gorgeous husk(NOTE to ED – insert Baldwin picture HERE.).    We struck a deal and brought it home.   I had been planning on recording all my clean guitar pars through it, or at least the majority of them.   We got carried away with how good everything was sounding through the Mesa Boogie so we did a bunch of the clean guitar tracks with that setup, but

I saved a couple to do with the Baldwin and in fact, re-did a couple of parts with it.  We setup the AKG C1000 as the close mic and used our Audio-Technica large diaphragm(I forget the model) to capture the sound of the kitchen.   It sounds especially great when someone walks through it on the wooden floor, but that might be just my personal taste talking.   I really made sure to take my time and try different ways of playing on the tracks.   As with everything we are doing on this record, we are basking in the luxury of being on our own time clock, and making sure we are pleased with the results.   John mentioned the other night that the raw drum tracks we have captured are the best of his career, and I feel the same about the guitars.

Ed was a little under the weather on Sunday so rather then continue with bass we stuck with the Baldwin, and with Darren’s help twiddling knobs on my effects board, we got a great solo for “Pixel Dust” a song a struggled with a couple of weeks ago.

The rest of the week we hope to finish up most of the remaining bass tracks.

Now that we have most of the bed tracks down I have been taking copies of all the files home and started to work through the sequencing.   Some of the timing may have to change to match the live drums, and some of the keyboard/synth and sample stuff may change either to eliminate elements that don’t make sense now with the real instruments or to add stuff that compliments what we have recorded.   This is an iterative process that will probably continue throughout the recording and well into mixing.

I’m also starting to feel the pressure to get all the lyrics completed.  We expect to start tracking vocals in the next few weeks and I honestly don’t believe I have one completed lyric to do.   I tend to agonize over the lyrics way more then the music.  For instance on “The Elementals”, the song “Burden of Gravity” went through about 30 drafts of lyrics, while the music came together in about 3 revisions.  Last night I spent a couple of hours getting a couple of songs closer to readiness.   “Black Hole”, which is now called “Atari, USA” is probably gone from about 40% complete to 60% while “Bugs in the Mainframe".” has gone from about 60% to about 75%.

Vermox For Sale, So here I was all set to dive into the backlog of diary entries about guitar tracking, when I see that Darren beat me to the punch and summarized the last couple of weeks in a succinct summary.   My evening just opened up!

Plus I don’t really remember what we did last month anyway.  It was all just a blur of guitars and trying to plug all my pedals in at the same time.

Everything is sounding spectacular so far, and last session we got John back behind the drum kit again to finish off the rest of the stuff that we have left to track drums for, which isn’t very much.    He was under instructions this week to go back and listen to see if there is anything he wants to touch up.    We spent a couple of hours tracking a bunch of different loops and patterns that we are going to use in “long_lat” we also redid the drum track for “black hole” because we lost one of the overheads for the initial session.   We think it sounds better now anyway.

So I see us spending the next couple of weeks to finishing drums and maybe even bass, then we’ll go back to guitars for a little bit.

The other surprise for me was that my trusty Music Man Petrucci 7 hasn't been tracked at all. I plugged it in one night to record a part and it just didn't deliver the goods, cheap Glucophage no rx. Anyway, enough about them, let’s talk about me, because the last 2 sessions were finally about me recording some stuff.   After months of drums, bass and Darren guitar I finally got to start laying down my guitar tracks.   We used the same mic and cabinet setup we used for Darren’s guitar but plugged my rig in, which consists of Garnet and GBX stuff and if Ed' ever stops cartooning for long enough maybe he’ll post a picture.

I tweaked my sound on the GBX pre-amp a little and we left the mics right where they are and we were “dialed in.”   I was able to track most of the heavy rhythm guitar tracks that I was doing.  We’ll finish them next session and then move on to some to the rest of the bed guitar tracks that me and Darren will be doing.  

We spent some fun time adding some special effect guitar to GIANT Monster, using a combination of my Alesis Bittr and Philtre pedals running through TC Electronics Nova Delay and got some sick sounds.  I recently also picked up a Guyatone Flip Tremolo which is an amazing sounding tube tremolo and used that as well.   I think this is a record that will have our best sounding guitars but will also feature some really interesting tones and noises as well.

Buy Allopurinol Without Prescription, We’ve been getting busy at Camp Organical the past couple of weeks really moving forward with tracking now.   We had a session where we finished off the drums for “Claxon, Clarion” and did another version of tracking the drums for “You Need Help.”  After hearing the snare sound on “Claxon..” and with the addition of the second bass drum to John’s kit, we felt we needed these things in “You Need Help.” So done and done.   One of the great things about recording in your own studio is you have those type of luxuries, and we have made a very conscious decision to take advantage of those options.

Last week Ed and myself went to one of local music stores and rented some gear for doing guitars and vocals.  We added two Joe Meek preamps, and a lovely silky smooth Presonus Eureka preamp, as well we rented a Neumann TLM 103 and a CAD Trion 8000, both terrific mics.    We put the CAD on John’s second kick and it was a great improvement.   We will probably go back to the songs that we have already tracked the second kick with(only a couple) and trigger the new sound in.   We had hoped to be able to rent a really high end preamp but the best available was the Presonus, which is still much better then anything we had, and Ed was so impressed with the Joe Meek VCLQ, especially for the price, that I think he will probably buy it.

Session 33 was spent on setting up Darren’s guitar amp and trying out our new mics and preamps.   We settled on setting up the amp in the downstairs bathroom mainly because we can isolate it the most in that room as we don’t have a dedicated live room or isolated recording booth.   We’re initially focusing on the high gain guitars which we generally just close mic.    After a few hours running through various combinations, we were able to get a whole bunch of tones that we were pretty happy with.    We left it at that and session 34 came back and added a second cabinet that we could mic separately.  Darren is playing a Mesa Boogie through 2 separate cabs with 10” speakers.   After a few more hours of tweaking, we settled on the CAD on the first speaker with a trusty Shure 57 on the second.    The CAD is rich and full while the Shure adds some nice sparkle that compliments quite nicely.  We also played around with the phase alignment and got the 2 tones locked in quite nicely.    We were then able to track the heavy part of “Here Comes the Radiation” and all of “Diabolik.”

Next session should be fun for me as a finally will get to track something as we’ll move on to a couple of my guitar parts(I hope.)

Even though there is still a little bit of drum work and probably about half the bass to track we are going to focus on guitars and maybe some vocals over the next month while we have this gear rented.   We also committed to trying to get more sessions in, which is tough for all of us with our schedules.

Bactroban For Sale, Quick post on the last couple of sessions, both of which were solid.   John put down a killer drum track for “Clarion, Claxon”  and detailed the new floor tom that’s coming.    Next session was Ed getting the bass track done for “The Residual” formerly known as “The Callow Ones”  and we did a rough bass track for “GIANT Monster”  but it’s not quite there yet and we were tired so we’ll have to come back to that.   Now back to work although what I really want to do is start watching Season 2 of Entourage.
