Once again, it’s time for my cats to decide the winners of this year’s Academy Awards. Please note that these decisions are final, accurate and absolutely the way things should be in a just universe, despite the actual results of tonight’s little festivity in Hollywood.
Best Actor: Mickey Rourke Best Lady Actor: Kate Winslet Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger will win with all the hullaballoo, even though Phillip Seymour Hoffman was probably better as the fiddly priest. Best Supporting Lady Actor: Penelope Cruz Animated Feature: WALL-e Art Direction: Hank says DARK KNIGHT, Babs says the Dutchess. Best Cinematography: Slumdog Millionaire has panache to spare. Editing: Hank says Frost/Nixon should get it, but it’ll probably go to the Dark knight, since it’ll win nothing else. |
Makeup: Benjamin Button Visual FX: Benny Button again should take this, but we have a sneaky suspicion about Iron Man. Sound: Wanted Score: Milk Song: Nothing gets Babs shakin’ like "Jai Ho" from Slumdog. |
Screenplay, adapted: Slumdog Millionaire Screenplay, original: Despite "In Bruges" being the clear winner here, it will get snubbed. Frozen River- nobody saw this; Happy-go-lucky; ditto; WALL-E- too environmental, so that leaves MILK, the winner. DIRECTOR: we’re going with Danny Boyle for S.M. BEST PICTURE: Slumdog Millionaire sweeps it. |
Pretty close, Hank and Babs. Nicely done.
