I’m doing it again, combining 2 sessions into one post. I have been trying to be consistent in updating the blog at least every few days, but haven’t quite got the hang of it yet.
Session 16 was an arranging session, and we quickly got to work getting "Hibakusha" ready to go. After that we flailed around for a while on "Inyour20s." We have played with this before and while it’s quite likeable we never got the hang of it. Some suggestions and ideas were presented and we decided to keep at it.
Session 17 was the whole band and we went back to "Warning Light is Blinking" working out some of the tricky bits. It’s coming together nicely but we decided with John(our drummer if you don’t know already) unavailable for the next 2 weeks, we decided to start sketching out some of the other songs he hasn’t worked on yet in order to capture some rough demos he can listen to and practice at home with. That way(the hope is) we can jump right back on the rails when he gets back.
We went over "Targets" with him, a song that was missing a middle section and actually came up with a pretty good middle eight on the spot. Then we moved to "Hibakusha" which we got together pretty quickly and since we were on a roll we pulled "Inyour20s" back out and damned if we didn’t move the ball forward on that as well. By the end of the night we had demoed all 4 songs (Targets, The Warning Light is Blinking, Hibakusha and Inyour20s) put them on Cd’s for everyone to listen to and called it a night.
Darren, Ed and myself will need spend the next 2 weeks getting the rest of the songs arranged and hopefully start tracking some guitars.
For those keeping track at home, we have now got 10 songs with drum tracks, 4 in progress and a few more bits and pieces we are working on.
I’ll include a chart next time.
