Boy Howdy!  I'm getting behind on doing these.   I'm 2 sessions behind and we have another one tonight.

Buy Plavix Without Prescription, Session 9(which btw, is a pretty good creepy movie) involved us working out some arrangement issues for "Targets"  After quite a while of creating a pretty intricate complicated middle eight section we blew off some steam by jamming out to a silly riff that Darren came up with that was neither creepy, nor in any way going to be on the recording but damn if it wasn't catchy.   Maybe it will show up on Darren's solo record.

After all that work on the new section of "targets" I pretty much ignored it all together and came up with a totally different part at home.  I should note for those of you not overly familiar with the Organical sound, that we do quite a bit of programming and sequencing, and as the main songwriter and the guy who does all the programming I decided to rework the section at home.    I'm going to save it now and wait until we can work it out with John.

Speaking of John, he was in full drummer mode for session 10 and the day started with the tracking of the drums for "diabolik"   I missed this as I was late but apparently not only John's regular kit were tracked, but some Conga's as well.   I was immediately suspicious of the use of Conga's on this song, but after hearing the result was won over.   It doesn't sound like a drummer and a lithe latin percussionist, it just sounds like a gorilla is playing the drums!

Now that I had heard it, I wanted to add some high end to the track, so we broke out the gourd and put another percussion track down.  Getting into the spirit of things, I also came up with using a few bells of a tambourine to get a unique layer and then talked John into adding some more snare tracks to the end section.  

Diabolik now has about 20 tracks of drums.  Oh my!

Moving on, we did several run through's of "Here Comes the Radiation", we kept tweaking this, but ultimately, while close, I think John still has the best take to come on this one.   It's one of the great pleasures about recording at your own studio and at your own pace.  You can be patient and circle back to something if you haven't quite got it the way you want.   This happened on "black hole" as well.  I'm sure we could have used one of the earlier takes that John did, but we kept at it until it was spot on.   John wanted to listen to "bugs" again, thinking that there a section he felt needed improving, but after listening to it with him, I thought it was great and we decided to keep it as is.

Tonight, Ed, Darren and myself will run through the 3 or 4 of the next songs we will record to make sure that the temp tracks are fine and fine tune the arrangements.   I also just picked up a Zoom H2(we already have the Zoom H4, which I praised a few blogs ago.)   The H2 does a pseudo-surround recording and I'm anxious to test it out in comparison to the H4 to see if the internal mic capsules are of the same awesome quality, so we'll try that tonight as well.
